First introduced in 1973 replacing ‘Purchase Tax’, Value Added Tax (VAT) is charged on goods and services sold in the UK and the Isle of Man. HMRC administers the VAT number. VAT-registered businesses will charge a VAT on the goods and services they offer, and can reclaim VAT they have paid on the goods and services bought.
The VAT threshold is currently at £90,000 as of April 2024, an increase of £5,000 from £85,000. This makes it compulsory for businesses whose annual taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 to register for a VAT number.
If your company’s total VAT taxable turnover will be more than £90,000 in the next 30-day period, you must register for a VAT number. You can also register for VAT voluntarily if your annual taxable turnover is under the threshold.
We provide VAT number registration for UK-limited companies, sole traders, and UK and non-UK residents. Entrepreneurs in e-commerce on platforms like Amazon, eBay, Shopify, and many others can also use our services to register for a VAT number.
To help your business stay compliant, we offer VAT return filing services to inform HMRC how much tax you have charged your customers. VAT returns are filed after every 3 months which is known as your accounting period. After the end of your accounting period, you will get one calendar month and 7 days as the deadline to submit your VAT return online.
