While that is for a private company, public companies’ names must end with ‘PLC’ and ‘Public Limited Company’. ‘LLP’ or ‘Limited Liability Partnership’ for registered partnerships and ‘Cyfyngedig’ or ‘Cyf’ in Welsh.

Not contain sensitive words or expressions

Sensitive words are terms that insinuate a connection with the royal family, government, and chartered institutions. These words include Banks, Her Majesty, King, Queen, British, Police, Government, Parliament, Insurance, Association, Foundation, Trust, England, and English among others. You must get authorisation or permission to include sensitive words in your company name. When registering your limited company, you must provide supporting documents.

Character and Symbols

Some characters and symbols are not permissible to use in a company name. You can use the standard symbols and punctuation in a standard keyboard, which include: #, .,:,;, and -. For instance, you cannot use a heart symbol in a company name, but you can use the word ‘heart’ in the company name.

Not Be Offensive
